It is so easy to be GREEN! Recycle at The Hall Closet

Since 1968 the Juvenile Hall Auxiliary has manned and operated a thrift store.
We were displaced in June of 2005 and moved from our downtown Martinez
location of 23 years to an uptown spot, the old Juvenile Hall Administration
wing. When the kids moved out we moved in. We painted, decorated and
spread our many donations throughout our new home. Our loyal customer
base has slowly been making their way to our new home and our new
neighbors have been greatly receptive.

We are currently seeking volunteers who could sort donations, hang clothes
and aid in the organization of our current array of great stuff. Your
commitment could be as little as 2 hours per week. Any amount of time would
be greatly appreciated. We always have a fun time solving the world’s
problems and working hard. Occasionally we have students from the
Community Day School come do their community service hours with us.

We are a non-profit organization so all of your donations are tax deductible. If
you are considering donating we accept gently used household items, clothes
free of rips and stains and small furniture, our space is limited. Any item you
think we could sell we take. Electronics if in working order but please no
computer equipment.

We accomplish two goals with our thrift store. One is to raise much needed
funds for our programs. The second is the store serves our population. When
the children get out of Juvenile Hall, if they have outgrown their clothes or
need a certain outfit for school, court or job, they can simply walk over and
take what they need.

We are currently open on Mon. and Thurs. from 10-2 p.m. and the first
Saturday of the month. Our goal is to add an additional day or more hours to

Entry fee is $100 per team Entry
Deadline: Friday March 12th, 2010

Qualifying rounds will have 15
questions in each of 6 categories:
Sports, Movies, TV, Music, Book
Learning and Misc. Playoffs will have
30 questions (5 in each category),
and the Semi-final and final will
have balanced set of questions in all
categories. Snacks and beverages
will be sold.

Call Rich Berkery prior to the 25th
hour and give him your:
Team Name, County Department.
Captain’s name and phone, and
teammates names. Maximum 6
players per team.
